Arafat meets with Burns

The chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat on Monday met with the US under secretary of state for the Middle East affairs William Burns in his residence in Ramullah on Monday.
No more details were given about the meeting after the Palestinian official Saeb Oreikat said earlier that the meeting was postponed.
Earlier, Oreikat announced the postponement of a meeting which was due Monday ( yesterday) between the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and the US secretary of State William Burns because the Israeli army prevented members of the Palestinian delegation from reaching the headquarters of Arafat in Ramullah.
Oreikat indicated that there are current contacts with the American side in order to solve this problem, caused by the Israeli occupation forces.
