Syrian prime minister exempts SANA director from his post
Syria, Politics, 4/22/2002

The Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro has issued a decision according to which he exempted the director general of the Syrian Arab news Agency (SANA) Ali Abdul karim from his post and putting him at the disposal of the minister of information Adnan Omran.

Miro authorized SANA's chief editor Ghazi al-Deib with the responsibilities of the director general without giving a time for that.

Well-informed sources in Damascus expected other changes to be taken place in the posts of directors general in the media establishments.

No obvious reason was declared for "exempting" Abdul karim who had criticized the Syrian media performance in a press statement he recently made in which he said that reforms of the press in Syria need "an earthquake."
