A massacre committed by the rebel movement in Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 4/22/2002

The deputy chairman of the Sudanese National Council Angelo Beeda unveiled that the Sudanese rebel movement led by John Garang carried out a massacre which claimed the life of 24 Sudanese by the end of last week.

Beeda said in a statement issued on Sunday by the Sudanese daily al-Ayam that the massacre was committed by the rebels led by Garang during random bombardment operations against civilians, violating, thereby, for the second time by its military operations, the civilians protection agreement signed with the government.

On the other hand, Beeda said that 74,000 Sudanese will return back to their country from their camps in Uganda and Kenya within the coming days.

Beeda added that all these refugees are eager to return back to their homeland after they became convinced that dialogue and working from inside the country is the mean to achieve peace in Sudan.
