Mubarak to receive Qatar's foreign minister today
Egypt-Qatar, Politics, 4/20/2002
News reports in Doha said that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will receive today Qatar's foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani who arrived in Cairo on Friday evening in a visit which will last for two days.
Well-informed diplomatic sources in Doha said that during the meeting, the two sides will discuss the possibility of convening an emergency Islamic summit, in the context of the request the ruler of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani had received ( as the chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference ) from the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, noting that there is a compliance in the Qatari- Egyptian vision towards the drastic conditions in the Palestinian territories, especially under the failure of the recent tour made by the US secretary of State Colin Powell to the region.
The sources said that during the meeting which will be attended by the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher and the advisor for the Egyptian President Osama al-Baz, Arab and Islamic stances will be coordinated to place pressures on the US in order to convince Israel to completely pull out from the Palestinian cities and villages occupied in the recent Israeli invasion of the West Bank.
