Situation is stable in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 4/19/2002
The personal representative at the UN in south Lebanon Stevan De Mistora has expressed his satisfaction over the stability taking place in south Lebanon. After his meeting with the secretary general of the Lebanese foreign ministry Muhammad Issa on Thursday, Mistora said that south Lebanon has been witnessing four days of stability.
Issa informed the UN official that Lebanon is careful not to have Israeli escalations because Israel had earlier carried out aggressions and continuously violates the Lebanese sovereignty.
On the other hand, the deputy secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party Sheikh Naem Qasem said that resistance will continue as far as Israel's occupation for the Shebaa farms continues and Lebanese prisoners are in the Israeli jails.
During his meeting in Beirut on Thursday with university students from Belgium, France, Austria, Holland and Germany, Sheikh Qasem added that Israel continues violations of the Lebanese sovereignty by land, sea and air.
Qasem stressed the right of the Palestinian refugees to return back to their homes and their rejection to settle in the countries where they currently live.
