Mrs Mubarak to head delegation to UN session on children

Egyptian First Lady Suzanne Mubarak will head Egypt's delegation to the UN General Assembly's extraordinary session on children, to be held on May 8. During the session, Mrs Mubarak will deliver a speech on Egypt's success in improving the status of children over the last decade, reinforced by strict legislation to safeguard their rights.
Mrs Mubarak will speak on behalf of the African Continent about problems African children are suffering, calling upon the international community to support the development plans for the African nations, to help them improve the standard of living for future generations.
The First Lady's remarks were made yesterday at a press conference organised by the National Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
Mrs Mubarak will also participate in the forum for first ladies at the invitation of the wife of the UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, which will review ways of furthering the 'Say Yes to Children' campaign.
