Moroccan human rights council re-elected chairman of international committee

Moroccan Driss Dahak, who chairs the Human Rights Advisory Council, has been maintained at the head of the International Committee of Coordination of national human rights promotion institutions.
The decision was unanimously made in Geneva Wednesday during the opening of a two-day meeting of the international committee, held in the presence of the UN high commissioner for human rights, Ms Mary Robinson, and the European Council's high commissioner for human rights, Gil Robles.
Dahak, who was chairing the meeting, surveyed the committee's activities during the past year and presented its program for 2002-2003.
The committee's meeting is also surveying the various issues on the agenda of the ongoing 58th session of the human rights commission and a draft resolution on national human rights promotion institutions. The activities of these institutions and of the international committee for 2002-2003 are equally being scrutinized by the meeting.
The International Committee of Coordination is made up of 16 members, of national human rights promotion institutions.
