Mubarak denies any differences with Syria, contacts continue with al-Assad

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt has stressed that he is continuously contacting President Bashar al-Assad in matters which are of concern to the two states especially the explosive conditions in the occupied territories.
In a statement to MENA, Mubarak denied the existence of any differences in the Syrian - Egyptian relations, noting the importance of preserving the Arab rank unity towards various issues of concern to the Arab nation.
The Egyptian President said that it is not logical to convene a peace conference under the deteriorated conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the continued Israeli occupation of the Palestinian areas.
He noted that most countries of the world have announced their non- approval of the idea of convening the conference, on the ground that there are still several UN resolutions issued by the UN security council and the UN concerning the question of the Arab - Israeli conflict that have not so far been implemented.
