Saudi crown prince congratulates Shavez on restoring back power
Saudi Arabia-Venezuela, Politics, 4/18/2002

The Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on Tuesday evening made a telephone call with Venezuela President Hugo Chavez.

The Saudi news agency said that during the telephone call the two sides discussed relations between the two countries. The Saudi crown prince congratulated the Venezuelan President on the occasion of his return back to power following the recent crisis in his country.

Worthy mentioning that the two countries are basic members in OPEC and continuously hold consultations on oil market conditions in the world. The Venezuelan President visited al-Riyadh in 2001 and held official talks with the Saudi leadership.

Worth noting that Chavez was deposed by a military coup that lasted several days after which he was -- in yet to be clarified circumstance -- restored to power.
