Eritrean opposition member assassinated in Sudan

Unidentified gunmen assassinated one of the key figures of the opposition Eritrean labor party, Muhammad Othman Idris, in front of his house in Wid Shreifi village in the Sudanese Kasla province on the borders with Eritrea.
The Sudanese daily al-Ayam quoted the director of Kasla province police Lt. Gen. Amman Othman Abdul Rahman as saying that gunmen opened fire at Idris on Monday evening and he was killed immediately and another person was wounded.
The police director said the incident had political implications pertinent to Eritrea's inter party differences.
