Mubarak addresses conference of Islamic Research Academy

A three-day conference is being held under the title:' This is Islam.'

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak gave today morning a speech at the inaugural session of the 12th conference of the academy of the Islamic research organized by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. The speech was read out by Prime Minister Atef Ebeid.

Grand Imam of AL-Azhar Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, on his part, delivered a speech, in which he talked about the targets of the conference that is to be held to refute the accusations leveled against Islam.

The conference will be attended by one hundred Islamic figures: Ministers of Awkaf (endowments); Muftis; Ulemas and representatives of Islamic authorities, organizations and minorities.

The conference will discuss about 45 research papers on Islam and its vision on non-Muslims and its maintenance of their rights.
