Egypt's stance is effective and influential
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 4/16/2002

During a meeting at the leaders' promotion institute, Osama El-Baz, Political Advisor of President Mubarak asserted that the Egyptian stance towards the Palestinian cause is effective and influential, and is based on deeds not words.

If Israel has realized a temporal military victory, it would lose on the near and long runs political as well as economic domains, he added.

El-Baz stressed the Palestinian people's right to resist the occupation, and denounce the Israeli aggressions.

He said that Israel's non-response to the international calls would result in a big loss, especially that it is a state based on immigrants from various parts of the world.

El-Baz said that the struggle and steadfastness of the Palestinian people was extremely effective in maintaining the international support to the Palestinian cause, especially the US support to the creation of a Palestinian state, and Israel's withdrawal from the occupied lands.

He further said that Egypt, government and people, supports the Palestinian people, and any action that would enable it to get the legitimate rights.

The fact that Egypt is strong and solid is the most significant factor that would force Israel to negotiate for peace, and to give the Palestinians their legitimate rights.

He added that 58 percent of the Israelis call for coexistence between Palestinian and Israeli states.

Mofid Shehab, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said that Egypt has always believed in the necessity of achieving a comprehensive solution of the Palestinian cause, and the liberation of the occupied Arab lands in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.

Ambassador said Kamal, the Palestinian representative to the Arab league, praised the Egyptian role towards Palestine in war as well as in peace.

He announced his rejection to any attempt to cast doubts on the Egyptian role, asserting that the Egyptian stance is matter of principles.

The Egyptian decisions are well calculated and all are in favour of the Palestinian cause.

Egypt, he added has lost 100,000 martyrs in defence of the Palestinian people and rights, and that it was Israel that introduced terrorism in the Middle East.
