Powell telephones Mubarak

President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak of Egypt on Monday morning received a telephone call from the US secretary of state Collin Powell during which the two sides reviewed contacts Powell made with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon and the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat on the explosive conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the efforts made to ease down these conditions.
