Amenhotep Ill stolen statue to return soon to Cairo

An Egyptian delegation will fly a next week to the Netherlands to retrieve the statue of Amenhotep III which was stolen 15 years ago from the storehouses of Monto temple at the Karnak together with 55 other pieces.
According to Dr Zahi Hawas the new Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities the Interpol had reported finding the Statue in the possession of an antique collector in The Hague.
The 50-cm tall statue is made of brown quartzite and bears inscriptions of the Amenhotep's royal titles in hieroglyphics.
The statue that belongs to the 18th dynasty is 33 cms thick.
