Mubarak contacts Assad

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak contacted late Friday with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. The telephone call dealt with the visit to Ramallah by Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher and his meeting with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on Friday. They reviewed conditions on the Arab and international arenas and voiced support to the Palestinians people.
The two Arab leaders probed the Palestinian Authority's viewpoint towards reaching a cease-fire agreement and the Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian territories.
