Al-Ghanoushe in Damascus for Syrian- Tunisian joint committee meetings

At the invitation of the Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro, the Tunisian prime minister Muhammad al-Ghanoushe will arrive in Damascus tomorrow on top of an official delegation to preside over the Tunisian side to the meetings of the Syrian- Tunisian joint higher committee which will start deliberations tomorrow.

Al-Ghanoushe will hold talks with the Syrian officials aiming at strengthening brotherly relations between the two sisterly countries in various fields as well as developments in the region.

The agenda of the joint higher committee includes several issues relating to revision of what has been so far completed in the third session of the joint higher committee meeting for 2001, finding out the appropriate mechanism to revitalize work in the signed agreements between the two states, discussing projects proposed to be signed during the meeting of the higher committee.

These projects pertain to the draft project of the free trade zone agreement, the bilateral agreement in the field of labor and the draft executive projects in the areas of educational, scientific, and social affairs fields for the years 2002- 2004, as well as the executive program on technical and scientific cooperation in the agricultural field and the memorandum of understanding in the cooperation framework in the realm of telecommunications, technology, the informatics, a media agreement and agreement on reciprocated administrative cooperation in the field of customs legislation and tourism.
