On al-Barazani's visit to Damascus

Sources in the Iraqi opposition said in a statement to the London- based al-Hayat daily issued on Wednesday that the leader of the Kurdistan's Democratic Party Masoud al-Barazani arrived in Damascus on Tuesday evening by land through the Syrian- Iraqi borders in a visit which will last for five days during which he will be meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam, the Syrian Baath party assistant secretary general Abdullah al-Ahmar and several number of the Iraqi opposition.

The paper explained that al-Barazani will move from Damascus to Washington at the invitation of the US State Department to discuss the Iraqi file.
