Foreign trade secretary calls businessmen to foster Moroccan-Brazilian partnership
Morocco-Brazil, Economics, 4/10/2002
Moroccan secretary of state for foreign trade, Abdelkrim Benatik, called Monday Moroccan and Brazilian businessmen to carry out partnership projects in order to foster bilateral cooperation and take advantage of the two countries' geographic location and trade liberalization.
Benatik, who was addressing a Brazilian business delegation currently visiting Morocco, said trade between the two countries is still short of their potentials, as since 1996, the trade value has been oscillating around $ 250 Mln, with the trade balance being largely in favor of Brazil which exports to Morocco five times the value of its imports, Benatik added.
Despite geographic remoteness and the process of regional integration going on in each country, intensifying meetings between businessmen can increase economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, the Moroccan official said.
The Brazilian delegation comprises operators from the sectors of agribusiness, handicraft, marble and granite, irrigation, hotel industry and telecommunications.
