Morocco-USA, Politics, 4/10/2002
The White House says Tuesday US President, George W. Bush, is looking forward to meeting King Mohammed VI, who will start on April 23 a work visit to the USA.
In its statement announcing the king's visit, the White House says "the President looks forward to the opportunity to review regional and bilateral issues with the King of Morocco, who has played a constructive role in the search for Middle East peace and has been a staunch ally in the international fight against terrorism."
King Mohammed VI will pay a work visit to the USA as of Sunday, April 21 for talks with the US chief executive and other department officials as well as figures from political and business milieus. The king will also visit New York, where he will meet United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan.
The trip comes after US secretary of state, Colin Powell paid a visit to Morocco, first leg of a tour leading him to Egypt, Madrid, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
This is the king's second visit to the USA since he was enthroned in July 1999. His first visit took place in June 2000.
