Mohajerani urges Islamic states to join oil embargo against Israel

Head of the Tehran-based International Center for Dialogue among Civilizations Ataollah Mohajerani on Tuesday called on intellectuals and artists to protest against Israeli crackdown against defenseless Palestinians, a report said.

"Addressing a rally of the members of parliament and students of Tehran University in front of Palestinian Embassy in Tehran, Mohajerani said that the aggressive army of the Zionist regime has stood against the nation of Palestine who has the least resources, but, the Palestinians are branded as terrorists and the Israeli atrocities are described as acts of self-defense," IRNA reported today.

He said that "the extent of Israeli attacks against civilian targets have led the international observers to reach the point that the attacks were made with the green light and support of the United States," the report said.

The IRNA report said Mohajerani pointed to "the proposal put forward by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei to the Muslim states to impose a one month long oil embargo against Israeli's supporters and said that planning should be made in this direction. He said that the oppressed Palestinian people have suffered several billion dollars in damage from the Israeli systematic attacks on Palestine adding that the Arab and Muslim nations should compensate the damages. He said that Iraq has voiced readiness to enforce the proposal and that Iran, as the proponent of oil embargo should also put into force the oil embargo. The nations opting not to join the oil embargo should channel their income to support the Palestinians in the one month period, he said."
