Palestinian Leadership: inhuman occupation destroys the historical old city of Nablus
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/10/2002
"The Israeli terrorist forces called on the Nablusians to leave their houses before demolishing the entire old City, the Palestinian Leadership considers this act as a low crime against humanity and human culture, because the old City of Nablus is one of the most ancient historical and archeological sites in the world and demolishing it is considered as violating the international laws that preserve the historical monuments and sites in the whole world," a WAFA report said today.
The report said "Israeli occupation forces, booby trapped, late last night, factories in the Eastern industrial Zone in Nablus, using huge amount of dynamite, activated with a remote control, totally demolishing the targeted ancient buildings, they also shelled the adjacent residential houses demolishing several buildings, while in another neighborhood (Almaqdoosi) they used heavy machinegun fire towards Palestinian residential houses causing severe damages."
It added "Israel will bear the responsibility on the old City and demolishing it will bear dangerous consequences, and every Israeli minister personally will be held responsible for this tragic act."
Meantime, Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres described Israel's military actions in the Jenin refugee camp as 'massacres', the Focus online magazine reported Tuesday. "In light of the high number of more than 100 Palestinian dead and hundreds of injured, one has to expect harsh anti-Israeli reactions worldwide," Peres was quoted as saying., and IRNA reported said today.
