King Abdullah Urges Powell to meet with Arafat
Jordan-Palestine, Politics, 4/10/2002
The Jordanian King Abdullah II has urged the US secretary of state Colin Powell to meet with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat during his mission in the Middle East and warned Israel that it will endanger its relations with Jordan.
In an interview with the US CBS News on Sunday, the Jordanian king added that Powell has to negotiate with Arafat and his team in order to bring him back to the peace table.
Replying to a question on the possibility of cutting diplomatic ties with Israel to protest its military campaign in the occupied Palestinian areas, King Abdullah said he did not take a decision yet but he warned that the Israeli military campaign will have a grave impact on the relations with Israel, if such campaign continues.
