Austria calls for dispatching international observers to Palestinian territories
Palestine-Austria, Politics, 4/9/2002

Austria calls for dispatching international observers to the region to protect the Palestinian people against Israeli acts of aggression.

Austrian Foreign Minister Benito Maria Ferrero-Waldner expressed appreciation of "President Hosni Mubarak policy, wisdom and self-restraint in the light of deteriorating situation in the Middle East because of the Israeli acts of aggression on Palestinian people."

The Minister called for the necessity of dispatching international observers to the region with the aim of protecting Palestinian people.

Ferrero-Waldner pointed out that Israeli premier Ariel Sharon would not achieve security through building iron and cement fences but via dialogue and implementation of Security Council resolutions and international legitimacy.

The Austrian Minister underlined that using military force can't lead to solving the Middle East cause and that the strategy adopted by Sharon will not prevent martyrdom operations.

The Austrian Minister described the Israeli atrocities as a grave mistake.
