Calls for Arab satellite channel for children

A conference on "Radio, TV, and Children," held in Tunis April 3-6, called on Arab states to create an Arab Satellite Channel for Children, the aim being to inform, educate and entertain the Arab child, while preserving his cultural identity.

The conference proposed the creation of an Arab fund to back the production of children programs, encourage the establishment of Arab companies specializing in the field and give incentives to private operators whishing to invest in children-oriented productions.

It also recommended that radio and TV programs publicize the Arab-Islamic heritage and encourage tolerance and dialogue.

The conference strongly condemned the Israeli state terrorism against the Palestinian people and their leadership, and voiced support for the Palestinian resistance and their right to recover all of their territories.

The participants sent messages to the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, the United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF), and the UN World Health Organization (WHO), exhorting them to protect the Palestinian children victim of the Israeli soldiers, who deny them their right to live.
