Lahoud gets a message from Powell on conditions in south Lebanon

The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud on Sunday evening received a message from the US secretary of state Colin Powell dealt with the situation in the region and south Lebanon.

In a telephone conversation with the US ambassador in Beirut Vincent Battle, who conveyed him the message, the Lebanese President said that Lebanon is careful to maintain the stability of conditions on its southern borders and is calling for taking rapid measures to halt the brutal israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories in order to prevent the escalation of conditions.

On Saturday evening the Lebanese President received a telephone call from the UN secretary general Kofi Annan during which the two sides discussed the situation in the region and the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and territories.
