The political editor of the Syrian Arab News Agency ( SANA) has learnt that Syria will not take part in the emergency meeting of the Arab foreign ministers due to be held in Cairo at the level of the foreign ministers and Syria's representation will be confined to the level of its permanent representative at the Arab league. This decision is in "protest of not implementing the recent Beirut Arab summit, especially the decisions provided for halting relations with Israel and revitalizing the Arab boycott of Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their heroic Intifada." The Syrian deputy premier and foreign minister on Friday evening received telephone calls from each of the Libyan people's general committee for African Unity Ali Abdul Salaam al-Tureiki in Libya; the Yemeni foreign minister Abu Baker al-Qurabi; the Algerian foreign minister Abdul Aziz Balkhadem and the secretary general of the Arab league Amr Moussa.
