Some 20,000 Bahraini demonstrate against the US, Israel

Some 20,000 Bahrainis on Friday demonstrated in al-Manama and 10 explosives were thrown at the headquarters of the US embassy in al-Manama during a solidarity march with the Palestinians. The demonstrators destroyed the site dedicated for the guards in front of the embassy which was then closed and broke by stones a restaurant for the US Macdonald series.

The Bahraini security forces were deployed and fired bullets in the air and used tear gas in order to disperse the demonstrators, who were mostly Bahraini. Some 70 demonstrators were wounded and admitted to hospitals because of the gas or rubber bullets.

One of the demonstrators could break the security siege and hoisted the Palestinian flag at one of the walls of the American embassy which is situated in al-Mahouz district to the southern east of the capital.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for closing the embassy and the Americans to go back to their country. The demonstration was held at the invitation of several political groups especially the national amity society ( Jam'it al-We'am al-Watani) in protest of the Israeli aggressions in the west bank and the US policy which is accused of being bias to Israel. Several Marines members were stationed on the roof of the embassy but did not interfere.

The US ambassador in Bahrain provoked regret of the organizers of the " UN style " conference which is organized annually in Bahrain for school students after he asked the participants to observe a one- minute silence for the Israelis who were killed in the clashes with the Palestinians. N.
