UN resolution 1403 calls for Israeli forces withdrawal from the Palestinian cities

Following the Syrian amendments, the UN security council unanimously approved the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Palestinian cities without a delay and backed the decision taken by the US President George Bush to delegate his secretary of state Colin Powell to the region.

The UN security council unanimously approved resolution 1403 which reflects the deep concern over the deteriorated conditions in the Palestinian territories and calls for a meaningful truce and the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Palestinian cities, including Ramullah.

All UN Security Council 15 member states voted for the resolution Including the US to which amendments were introduced as proposed by Syria through its ambassador Miklhael Wahbeh.

The UN Security Council approved unanimously the decision taken by the US President George Bush to send his secretary of State Colin Powell to the region in line with the efforts made by other sides especially the US, Russia, the European Union and the UN special coordinator in order to reach a just, comprehensive and permanent solution.

The UN Security Council asked Kofi Annan to follow up the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and to brief the council with developments concerning the Palestinian question.

Worthy mentioning that the UN Security Council is in a continuous meeting since one week concerning the deteriorated conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
