American- Kurdish meeting
Iraq-USA, Politics, 4/6/2002

In a statement, the Kurdistan Democratic Party announced that a delegation representing the US State Department has recently met with several Iraqi Kurds officials in North Iraq.

News reports quoted the statement as saying that the American delegation was headed by the US under secretary of state for the Middle East affairs Rayan Crocker. The statement said that the talks concentrated on the political situation in Iraq and in the Middle East region.

The statement continued that the American delegation stressed Washington's commitment to follow up its protection and humanitarian support for the Iraqi people in Kurdistan.

The American delegation had met with the chairman of the Kurdistani Democratic party Mesout Barazani at his headquarters in Salah Eddine while he met with the chairman of the Kurdistani national federation Jalal al-Talibani in al-Suleimaneyeh.
