'Boycott US' call to Muslim countries

Religious scholars urged boycott of US products, as Washington is main ally of Israel "which is conducting a campaign to exterminate the Palestinian people," Bahrain's Gulf Daily News reported today.

"All Arab and Islamic governments were also urged to recall their envoys from the US and expel American ambassadors, especially those who show scant respect for the feelings of Arab people, said a communique issued by the Al Wefaq National Islamic Society," The report said.

"In the face of this international silence and Arab impotence and the American-Israeli alliance, the Palestinians are being butchered," said the communique, Gulf Daily News report.

"We also call on the Arab and Islamic people to continue supporting the intifada through a boycott of US products or demonstrations and rallies or donations in cash or kind." The communique also called on Arab governments to cut diplomatic ties with Israel and to expel US ambassadors, as "This is the very least we can do to support the Palestinian people."

"We also call upon international organisations, like the UN, to come out of this embarrassing position where they are simply standing by and watching the kind of destruction and killing being done by the Zionists," said the communique.

"We call on them to shake off the shackles of American supremacy and move quickly to rescue the Palestinian people and to pressure the Zionists for a complete withdrawal from Palestinian lands."

They called on international humanitarian and rescue organisations to help the injured and carry food and medicine to civilians and allow the burial of dead.

"We applaud all sections of the Palestinian resistance and political parties who have taken Jihad as the means to liberate their land and we tell them to continue in their resistance," the message said.

"We want the Palestinian people to know that all Arab and Islamic people and all decent people will support them and will not leave them to face this ordeal alone," the message said, Gulf Daily News reported.
