Al-Mashaar heads for Washington carrying a message from King Abdullah to Bush

The Jordanian foreign minister Marwan al-Mashaar left Amman on Thursday for Washington carrying a message from the Jordanian King Abdullah to the US President George Bush concerning the deteriorated conditions in the Middle East.

The Jordanian official news agency Petra said that the message includes the Jordanian vision to halt the Israeli military escalation. The message also includes the basics of the Jordanian position also provided for the need of ensuring protection for the Palestinian people and the interference of the international community to stop this grave escalation which will drag the region into a new cycle of violence and threatens of further escalations which might eliminate the peace process as a whole.

Al-Mashaar is expected to meet during his visit to Washington with several American officials to discuss the Arab- Israeli conflict.
