Arab states spent $53 billion on arms in year 2000 alone
The Arab states in 2000 spent 27.4 per cent of their total spending to defence and security, while only 9.1 per cent was allocated for economic affairs, showed figures in the annual Arab economic report for 2000, a report said.

Hizbullah strikes Israeli positions in Shebaa
Eye witnesses said that the Hizbullah party bombarded Israeli positions in Shebaa farms. The witnesses added that the Lebanese Hizbullah party launched an attack at the positions of the Israeli army in Rweisat al-Alam, al-Sammaqa and Ramtha in Shebaa area, using missiles and mortars. No casualties were reported in the lines of the Israelis.
