The Vatican summons the ambassadors of the US, Israel

The spokesman for Pope John Paul II, Jawakim Navaro announced on Wednesday that the Vatican summoned the ambassadors of Israel and the US to it to discuss with them the " catastrophic " situation in Bethlehem.

The spokesman said that the Vatican also summoned the representative of the Arab League to discuss means of ending "the acts of terrorism." The spokesman said that on Tuesday evening the Israeli ambassador was summoned and the US ambassador was summoned on Wednesday.

The spokesman explained that the Vatican expressed in these meetings its positions relating to maintaining a settlement for the Middle East crisis, denouncing terrorism and the severe conditions imposed on the Palestinian people. He called for honoring UN resolutions and ensuring balance in using defense means and the need of protecting holy sites of the three divine religions, ( Judaism, Christianity and Islam.)
