Urgent message from Mubarak to Bush
Egypt-USA, Politics, 4/3/2002

Egyptian President Mubarak, in a personal and urgent message to US President George Bush, underlined the need for an immediate move to halt the fierce military campaign waged by Israel for occupying the areas under Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

In his message, the President pointed out the significance of the US role, as the US is the international power committed to maintaining world peace far from oppression, humiliation, bad treatment and the absence of justice.

The President warned against rapid deterioration witnessed by the region if Israel sustained its savage campaign and rejected to implement the Security Council resolution no. 1402, a move that would push the region towards a dangerous crossroads.

Meantime, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat who is besieged at his office turned down an offer by Sharon to leave Palestinian territories in order to maintain his safety.

Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator said that Arafat rejects this offer completely and is determined to remain on the soil of his homeland.

Erekat told the AFP that Sharon's statements indicate that he is seeking to kill President Arafat.

He said President Arafat prefers to be a martyr rather a captive.

Erekat called on US President Bush to combat terrorism, as Sharon is the terrorist No.1 in the world.
