Moroccan students, pupils take to the street to protest Sharon's slaughter of unarmed palestinians
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 4/3/2002

Hundreds of university students and school pupils took the streets Monday and Tuesday in different parts of Morocco to show sympathy with the Palestinian people and denounce the savage slaughter perpetrated by Israel, under the leadership of Ariel Sharon, against the unarmed Palestinians and their President Yasser Arafat.

The youth, who demonstrated peacefully, chanted up-roaring slogans decrying Sharon's policy and castigated the American backing to the repressive policy of the Zionist entity.

Raising Palestinian flags and portraits of Yasser Arafat, the demonstrators urged Arab countries and all the international community to act urgently and stop the Israeli invasion seeking to eliminate the Palestinian leadership and gag once and for all the Palestinian people's aspiration to live peacefully in an independent state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as capital.

They called Arabs to extend the necessary backing to the Palestinian people to help them continue their heroic struggle for independence and for life in dignity.

The Moroccan Association for Support to the Struggle of the Palestinian People will hold next Sunday a huge demonstration in downtown Rabat to protest the Israeli slaughter of the Palestinian people. Millions of people are expected to participated in the demo, the association said.

More than two million people had participated last October in a similar demonstration organized by the Association.
