Sharon's practices are real-terrorism Grand Imam of Al-Azhar

Egypt's Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Mohammed Sayyed Tantawi said on Monday that the practices of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon are real terrorism since he has been aggressing land and people's honours.

He added that what the Palestinians have been doing is Jihad since Jihad in Islam means defending rights of freedom and creed.

This come within the context of Sheikh Tantawi's meeting with Singapore newly appointed ambassador to Egypt.

Meanwhile, Mufti of the Republic Ahmad At-Tayyib said that the Egyptian Ifta House is considering all the knowledgeable and social aspects before issuing any Fatwas (religious opinions to conform to reality.

"Islam is the religion of knowledge and civilization that orders its followers to cooperate with others for the good of humanity," he said.

Tayyib received Monday Singaporean ambassador in Cairo Tee Tui Ba, who praised the role of the Egyptian Ifta House in clarifying religious opinions over contemporary issues.

"These Fatwas have strong impact on all the Muslim countries and communities all over the world," said the Singaporean ambassador.
