Bush gives green light to Sharon to carry on with his aggression
Palestine-USA, Politics, 4/2/2002
Palestinian Local Government Minister Saeb Erekst on Monday described the remarks of US President George W. Bush in which he urged Arafat to exert more efforts to stop violence as "the biggest force and the biggest joke in the history of international relations."
Erekat also lashed out at "Bush's description of the Israeli aggression and war crimes against the Palestinians as self defence," saying it was tantamount to giving Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon the green light to continue his aggression.
Erekat called on world countries to push for implementing UN Security Council resolution 1402 fully and immediately.
Sharon has closed all doors and aborted all international efforts aimed to halt the current deterioration, Erekat said in a telephone interview with the Egyptian television from Gaza.
Sharon will re-occupy all Palestinian cities to destroy the Palestinian Authority and its infrastructure, Erekat said.
"Nothing was spared by the Israeli barbarism which is being supported by the US and ignored by other Western countries," the Palestinian official said, noting that Sharon and the US would soon realize that the Palestinian people would not be subjugated by occupation.
Sharon's threats are no longer restricted to the Palestinian territories, Erekat said, noting that it was high time for decision makers in Arab countries to seriously reconsider Israel's serious actions to protect the security and stability of Arab countries.
