Pope John holds Israel responsible for violence in occupied lands

Pope John Paul II of the Vatican on Monday held Israel responsible for the violent events in the Palestinian lands.
Pope John Paul II, at the Christian world celebrations Easter Mass in Saint Peter Square, noted that violent events are up since the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon took over.
The Israeli government is ignoring all peace calls and initiatives which are aimed at establishing security and stability in the region, added the Pope.
War will not lead to peace, rather it will inflict more suffering and death, added Pope John Paul II.
