Moroccan-Syrian information commission meets in Rabat

The minutes of the first meeting of the Moroccan-Syrian commission in charge of information, held in Rabat Monday were signed by Moroccan minister of communication and culture, Mohamed Achaari, and Syrian information minister, Adnan Omran.

The minutes provide for exchange of TV and radio cultural and entertainment programs and for promoting TV programs coproduction. It also provides for enhanced professional relations between the Moroccan and Syrian news agencies MAP and SANA and for exchange of visits between their journalists.

The document calls for direct cooperation relations between the two countries media institutions, and stipulates the setting up of a joint committee for cinematography cooperation. The committee will hold its first meeting in Morocco on the sidelines of the Mediterranean film festival scheduled for next November.

The meeting also highlighted by the signing of an addendum related to cooperation in matters of cinema and decided to hold a Syrian cinema week in Morocco in December 2002. The meeting was held pursuant to the accords signed by Morocco and Syria last October and that provide for the meeting of a follow-up committee once a year, alternately in Morocco and Syria.
