King Mohammed receives Canada's prime minister
Morocco-Canada, Politics, 4/2/2002
Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by his brother Prince Moulay Rachid, received on Tuesday in the Royal Palace of Agadir Canada' prime minister, Jean Chretien.
Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, and Canada's ambassador in Morocco, Yves Gagnon, attended the meeting.
Chretien is undertaking this April 2-12 a tour in seven African countries: Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Senegal.
The African tour is part of Canada's preparations for the G8 most industrialized countries summit, to be held next June 26-27 in Kananaskis (Western Canada).
The leaders of the most industrialized countries and Russia had decided in their summit in Genoa, Italy, to adopt a work plan for Africa and support the NEPAD, Africa's new partnership initiative for development.
