An inclination to revitalize Gulf states activities
Gulf, Politics, 4/2/2002

The secretary general of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad al- Ateyah has commended the positive developments on the case between Iraq and Kuwait following the Beirut summit and expressed his conviction that the next 15th Arab summit which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain will enhance the common Arab work.

He explained that the main objective for the next phase is that the GCC to be an effective organization that will clearly reflect the common objectives drawn by the GCC leaders in challenge of regional and international challenges imposed on the region.

Al-Ateyah stressed that he will work for the implementation of the GCC resolutions and to follow them up in a way to meet main set objectives like applying the common customs tariff as from January 2003 and paving the way before the introduction of the common Gulf currency in 2010.
