Al-Jadida Festival Suspended in Solidarity with Palestinians
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 4/1/2002
The Moroccan ministry of culture and communication has decided to suspend Al-Jadida's 3rd national festival of Abidat Arma (a local music genre typical to the central western regions of Morocco) in solidarity with the brave Palestinian people. A release by the ministry says the annual festival "was suspended as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinian people who are fighting, under the leadership of the combatant president Yasser Arafat, the Zionist arrogance to win their rights to establish an independent state with Al-Quds as a capital."
The ministry's release also recalls the positions of King Mohammed VI and those adopted by the government, political parties, NGO's and all components of the Moroccan society which firmly believe that the Palestinian cause is a national cause.
