Ebeid inaugurates youth fair
Egypt, Economics, 4/1/2002

Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid yesterday inaugurated on behalf of President Hosni Mubarak the 23rd youth fair at the indoor halls complex in Nasr City, which is organized by the Information Ministry in tandem with the Social Fund for Development (SFD).

The fair is laid out over an area of 33,000 square metres, with 23 governorates and about 2,800 exhibitors taking part in the 10-day event.

The fair displays youths and fresh graduates' products as well as those by small-sized enterprises.

Several economic symposiums will be held on the sidelines of the fair to acquaint the youths of the fields of small-sized and micro enterprises and means to market the products and get financial and technical assistance.

Ebeid, accompanied by Deputy Premier and Minister of Agriculture Youssef Wali and a host of ministers as well as SFD Secretary-General Hussein Al-Gammal, toured the fair's various pavilions.

Ebeid said that the government has decided to set up an organization through the Social Development Fund with the aim of supporting small projects, from all aspects.

The organization will provide data on the requirements of markets and will cooperate with local authorities to choose the best locations to set up small projects with the support of the government.

This system has already been applied in two governorates in lower Egypt, namely Qalubia and Sharkia.

Ebeid said that the new organization will also provide experience, feasibility studies and raw materials.

Specialized companies will be set up to market the products of small projects.

The Prime Minister lauded the role of national media in supporting small projects by throwing light on their activities and products.

The fair, which covers an area of 33,000 square metres, displays the products of youth and graduates and the products of small-sized enterprises.
