Some 40 peace advocates westerners choose to stay with Arafat
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/1/2002

A 40- member group of western peace advocates including the French activist Josip Boufet decided to stay at Arafat's headquarters, which they had arrived at despite the Israeli bullets fired at them to prevent them from getting into the headquarters. One American journalist was hit by one bullet in his back. He works as a correspondent for the Boston Globe. A car for two Swedish journalists was also damaged.

Meantime, the American Adam Schapeiro who preferred to stay at Arafat's headquarters said " I call on the American people to maintain solidarity. It is a case of freedom and dignity for the sake of which the Palestinians fight against a repressive occupant."

After this new development, the Israeli forces arrested 13 of those 40 Western activists and took them to a nearby barrack in Ramullah.
