King Mohammed renews full backing to President Arafat
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 3/29/2002
Morocco's King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, renewed in phone talks Friday with Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat, Morocco's full backing and solidarity with the Palestinian people and leadership against the new Israeli escalation waged by the occupation forces in blatant defiance to Arab and international will to establish peace.
Israeli occupation forces on Friday invaded the general headquarters of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Ramallah, launching tank attacks against the offices of the President.
The "barbarous attacks" were perpetrated one day after the Arab Summit, held Mar. 27-28 in Beirut, adopted a plan offering peace to Israel in the exchange of a withdrawal to the borders of 1967.
King Mohammed VI renewed to President Arafat Morocco's continuous solidarity and readiness to mobilize all potentials to back the struggle of the Palestinian people and its valiant, legitimate national leadership.
King Mohammed VI also reaffirmed to President Arafat his determination to carry on efforts, in his capacity as chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, with a view to mobilizing international, Islamic and Arab backing "for the triumph of the legitimate struggle of the brotherly Palestinian people to liberate their land and establish an independent state with Al-Quds Asharif as capital."
The king also held phone talks with King Abdallah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan.
The two Kings exchanged views on the dangerous and serious Israeli military escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
