Moroccan Painter in U.N. Dialogue of Cultures Exhibition

"Marrakech by Night," a Painting by Moroccan Abdelhamid Kachmar, is displayed at an exhibition of paintings, sculptures and tapestry held at the United Nations headquarters here under the topic "dialogue of cultures."
The two-week-long exhibition, sponsored by the group of francophone ambassadors to the UN, displays the works of about thirty artists from over the world.
Art has this unique power to reconcile civilizations, unite peoples, said the Moroccan painter during the exhibition preview earlier this week.
Abdelhamid Kachmar, a native of Errachidia province (south-eastern Morocco), is a self-made painter. After he graduated from university with a degree in biology, he settled in the Atlantic town of Essaouira, that he describes as a magic inspiring heaven for all artists, to give free rein to his talent.
Abdelhamid Kachmar, who calls himself the nomadic artist, has participated in exhibitions in France, Italy, Spain and the United States.
