Beirut's summit perpetuates the Saudi key role

Despite the state of disorder which prevailed the Arab summit convened in Beirut on Wednesday, however, the Beirut summit has taken resolutions that will be remembered for long by history. Resolutions that will strengthen the Saudi key role in the Arab states.

Despite the ups and down at the summit and the large number of absent Arab leaders from the summit, however, this summit was able and at the hands of Saudi Arabia to launch an Arab peace initiative and to bring togethet both Iraq and Kuwait in spite of the absence of two prominent Arab leaders from the summit ( President Mubarak and King Abdullah) which raised in a great state of confusion.

The summit was almost failing after several Arab leaders threatened on Wednesday evening to pull out to leave Lebanon, yet, Saudi Arabia was able to control matters and impose herself on the atmosphere. No other side would be able to do so, but this rich and strong Arab state.
