Closure of Moroccan-Algerian borders contradict their will to promote exchanges, Algerian minister
Algeria-Morocco, Economics, 3/28/2002

The closure of Moroccan-Algerian borders contradicts the two states' will to develop their economic relations, Algerian minister of finance, Mourad Medelsi, said Thursday at a press conference held on the sidelines of the Arab Summit convening in Beirut March 27-28. The Algerian minister stressed that development conditions in the two states should be helping Moroccan and Algerian private sectors to intensify their cooperation.

He noted that the Moroccan private sector is by far stronger than the Algerian one, he said economic ties between the two neighboring countries are still short of expectations.
