Maher confirms reaching formula to settle Iraq-Kuwait issue

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher Wednesday said that a formula was reached to settle the Iraqi-Kuwaiti issue.

The formula will be included in the final communique of summit and will express the hope for surpassing the current situation, he said.

Emerging from the evening session of the Beirut Arab summit, the foreign minister said that the formula was delicately drawn up.

He declined to give further details. Talking about one aspect of it now may cause harm.

As for the withdrawal of the Palestinian delegation from the summit, he said that he has information that the Palestinian delegation will return to the meetings on Thursday.

On the Saudi peace initiative, Maher said: We have the text of the initiative agreed upon by the committee formed to draw up the initiative.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Minister of Information Mohammad Saaed Al Sahhaf told MENA that an agreement was reached on formulating a balanced plan for the Kuwaiti-Iraqi issue and will be declared by the summit.
