Bush wants $ 100 million extra to Jordan as expression of support

The US embassy in Amman on Tuesday announced that the US President George Bush asked the Congress to approve an extra aid of USD 100 million to Jordan for the Fiscal year 2002.
In a statement, the embassy said that if the request is approved Jordan will be getting a total sum of USD 250 million as a US economic aid for 2002 as "an expression of supporting" the economic reforms programs launched by the Jordanian King Abdullah. The statement added that Jordan will also get another USD 75 million as a military aid from the US for this year, 2002.
On March 6, this year Jordan received USD 1.37 million which was the first payment of USD 150 million as a US economic aid offered to Jordan for 2002. Jordan's foreign debts is estimated at USD 9.6 billion it has to pay.
